Formative years

Following his MBBS from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore, Dr. Ajaikumar completed residency training in oncology from the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, and fellowship in radiation and medical oncology from the renowned MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. While building his practice in the US, he founded Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology, a Mysore-based not-for-profit hospital in 1989. At the same time, along with a group of oncologists, he incepted the Bangalore Institute of Oncology (BIO). As this center grew, Dr. Ajaikumar sensed the need for improving accessibility, affordability, and quality of cancer care in India.

Big Leap forward

In 2003, Dr. Ajaikumar moved back to India with his family armed with a vision of expanding cancer care services in India. He realised his dream through Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd, a hub-and-spoke institution headquartered in Bengaluru, with multiple centers spread across India to make cancer care accessible and affordable, while also ensuring high quality through linear accelerators even in Tier2/Tier3 cities. HCG has been a sterling validation of his belief: cancer can be treated only one way: the right way, the first time, to help patients achieve longer and better lives.

HCG revolutionised cancer care in India through high-end technologies like CyberKnife™ and TrueBeam™, as also advanced bone marrow transplant therapies and molecular imaging. With an eye on end-to-end delivery of cancer care, Dr. Ajaikumar acquired Triesta, a leading molecular diagnostic lab. Today, HCG is at the forefront of molecular diagnostics and incorporating genomics to facilitate precision medicine.

Led by his interest in the fertility space in India, he partnered with Dr. Kamini Rao, under the Milann brand name, and established multiple centers across India. While HCG has established 26 comprehensive cancer care centers, Milan is soon expected to grow to 10 centers. HCG’s spectacular success has inspired Dr. Ajaikumar to increase and strengthen his network of comprehensive cancer centers across the world, beginning with Africa.

Recognition, awards and accolades

Dr. Ajaikumar has been awarded the prestigious E&Y Start-Up Entrepreneur of the Year Award as well as the Asian Health Care Leadership Awards. Harvard Business School has done several case studies on HCG, and Dr. Ajaikumar has given several talks at Harvard Business School and Babson Business School.

Social Commitment

He continues to encourage and mentor other doctors and entrepreneurs in their own specialties. Today, under his leadership, cancer care in India has seen a paradigm shift, and cancer care has been redefined as a chronic disease. Being a social entrepreneur and philanthropist, he has incepted several NGOs engaged in phenomenal developmental work in the Gundlupet district, Karnataka. His organizations have till date provided financial aid for needy cancer patients, empowered 20,000 women through microfinance, sponsored the education of 550 children, besides striving to eliminate the prevalent social ills

Leisure Pursuits

Dr. Ajaikumar is also an avid marathon runner and a voracious reader.

Dr Girish Rao, MDS, FDSRCS (Eng), FFDRCSI (Ire), FDSRCS (Edn) completed his under-graduation from the Govt. Dental College (Bangalore) where he secured 1st rank throughout and won 2 gold medals from Bangalore University. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Govt. Dental College (Madras).

He was trained in the UK for 8 years in all aspects of Faciomaxillary Surgery and secured two fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Ireland. He has also worked as the Senior Registrar at the prestigious St. Barts and the Royal London Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals in the world.

He returned to India in 1999 and worked as a Consultant Faciomaxillary Surgeon at various super-specialty hospitals like NIMHANS, HCG, Shankara Cancer Hospital, Sagar Hospitals, Apollo Hospitals, Trust Well Hospital, and more. He has also served as a Professor and Head, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the RV Dental College & Hospital for 17 years.

He has published more than 25 papers in several international journals, has been a keynote speaker in several national and international conferences, and has authored chapters in the international edition of the Hamilton Bailey’s Clinical Methods in General Surgery and Le-fort Access Osteotomy in Juvenile Angiofibroma. He was conferred the Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2019, and was also appointed as an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.

He is the President of the South Asian Society of Maxillofacial Implantology, and Founder-Director of the Implant Study Group as well as My Dental Plan Healthcare. Dr Rao was also the Vice President and Executive Committee Member of the Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, and is currently the Honorary General Secretary-Elect of the Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India.

Dr Anandakrishna G N is a renowned Prosthodontist and Implantologist with extensive clinical and teaching experience in Implantology and Complex restorative protocols.

He graduated from the Govt. Dental College (Bangalore) and completed his MDS in Prosthodontics from the AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (Mangalore). Dr Anandakrishna is the first Board Certified Prosthodontist from the Indian Board of Prosthodontics, and a Diplomate of the ICOI.

He has been in academics and has served in various institutions. His last tenure was as a Professor at the MS Ramaiah Dental College (Bangalore).

He is also occupied various designations at several national and international organizations, some of them include - Secretary of the Indian Board of Prosthodontists; Secretary of the Indian Prosthodontic Society (Bangalore); Ambassador ICOI; and Vice President of the Indian Prosthodontic Society. He was also the Secretary of the Karnataka Prosthodontic Society, Scientific Coordinator ICOI (South Asia), and an Executive Council Member of IPS.

He is the founder of My Dental Plan Healthcare, 3 dent DDS and the Implant Study Group. Has been trained extensively in the field of Crown & Bridge and Implantology. He has vast experience with Implant Prosthodontics involving different systems of implants.
